General-population scenarios for direct practice, student learning, and case planning.

Strong Support Network

7 systems

Dense, high-quality connections across family, work, healthcare, faith, and social systems. Useful as a strengths-based example or contrast case for students.

  • Primarily strong and mutual connections
  • Energy flows toward the center
  • Good diversity of system types

  • Healthcare as a major node
  • Family connection quality variation

Cultural community, language services, legal/immigration, employment, school, and healthcare — with mandated connections to government agencies.

  • Mandated government connections
  • Cultural community as a strength
  • Language barrier visible

Isolated Client

5 systems

Minimal connections across just a few systems, most weak or broken. Surfaces the ecological isolation pattern clearly — useful for teaching identification of at-risk presentations.

  • Sparse connection network
  • Predominantly weak/broken lines
  • Isolation pattern visible

Child in Foster Care

7 systems

Foster placement, biological family (broken/stressful), school, caseworker, and court. Mandated connections prominent.

  • Social support depleted

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit these templates?

Yes — all templates in Ecomap Creator are fully editable. Add systems, change connection types, resize nodes, add notes, and adjust energy flow. The template is just a starting point.

Are the templates suitable for clinical use?

The templates use real clinical scenarios with standard Hartman notation, but they are starting points for assessment — not finished clinical documents. Always adapt to the specific client's actual ecological context.

How do I access templates in the app?

Tap 'Templates' on the Ecomap Creator dashboard. All 9 templates are listed in two categories: Individual & Family, and Clinical & Training. Selecting one opens a pre-filled, fully editable ecomap.

Can I create my own templates?

You can create an ecomap you want to reuse and share it via the export feature. Custom template saving is on the roadmap for a future update.

Are these templates free?

Templates are included in both subscription plans (Standard $19.99/yr and Unlimited $29.99/yr). Both plans include a 7-day free trial during which templates are accessible.
